Craighead County Coordinators
Welcome to Craighead County Emergency Management!
In the 1980s Glen Bradley was the coordinator, I know there were coordinators before him but at this time I
have not been able to identify them. In approxmately 1993 Glen retired and Jack Richardson was appointed
Building on what Glen had in place Jack was able to improve and enhance operations along with a more robust
volunteer group. In 2006 David Moore the current director was appointed and working with what Glen and
Jack had put into place has been able to improve the operation with modern technology and bring new
programs and encourage development of current programs. David Moore
The Arkansas Civil Defense Agency was created by Act 321 of 1953. The purpose included the
formation of a civil defense plan in case of any occurrence of disasters.
Craighead County Emergency Management started as Civil Defence and operated in the basement
of the courthouse, moving to what was then the Craighead County Hospital and changing the
name to Office of Emergency Services. The next move was to the old jail building on Madison St.
Finaly moving to the current location in the basement of the courthouse annex at 511 Union.
This move brought a larger more efficient location a following a name change to the current
Craighead County Office of Emergency Management.
From preparedness planning to response to recovery and finally mitigation of known hazards we
strive to protect our citizens.
To provide a comprehensive Emergency Management program which coordinates people and resources to
protect the lives, property and the environment within Craighead County by using an all hazards approach
of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery for disasters and emergencies.
